Serendipity – Stephanie & Navid | Ottawa Engagement Photography

Do you ever think back to the event that brought you together with the love of your life, the one you will spend the rest of your life with? I do, all the time. I truly believe that love finds you and not that you find love. One of these days I will share with you my love story our serendipities moment.

What can I say I’m a hopeless romantic; I have fallen in love with love.  Very fitting for me as a Wedding photographer, I’m always surrounded by people in love.

I’m so excited to finally share with you another love story.  Stephanie & Navid story and serendipities moment that brought them together and to their upcoming wedding this coming fall

Stephanie & Navid were both fairly fresh to the dating world after both getting out of 5 year relationships. Stephanie had just moved out her moms’ house with a friend, renting her first apartment, to be “free” and single for the first time since she was 15! Navid; same boat going out with friends and really enjoying the single life.

One night Navid and his friends were going out and Stephanie and her roommate at the time were friends with his friend and they invited them to come with them. Stephanie and her roommate were both short on cash and decided they would save their money and have a girl’s night in. After a couple hours of sitting at home while everyone else they knew were out having fun, they decided it couldn’t hurt to just go out with $20 each lol!  Navid was the only guy there that did not look completely thrilled about being there, Stephanie thought; hmmm maybe that’s a good thing.  Stephanie & Navid ended up spending the rest of the evening dancing and talking and 6 months later they moved in together and than a year later they were engaged!

As Stephanie tells me this story she adds that her decision to go out that night was the best decision she ever made because Navid is and always will be the best thing that ever happened to her. That’s all she has to say about that:)She also found out later that Navid wasn’t going to go out that night. His friends had to drag him there. Funny how things happen the way they do… I’m glad they did though:)I believe it was serendipity for both of us:)They say you meet your soul mate when you least expect it and for us that exactly what happened.

From the moment I met these two I know that they were crazy about each other you can just tell by the way they act and look at each other. See it for yourself

Here are some of my favorite shots from their engagement session. OMG!!!! it was so hot that day, I’m sure the humidex was 80% is not higher. But they were so amazing; you’d never know it from the pictures. Like they say, love can concur all. Even extreme heat discomfort!!!!

Stephanie & Navid, I had such an amazing afternoon with you, I can’t wait for their September wedding

Ashlea & Peter = soul mates | Ottawa Wedding Photography

A soulmate ( or soul mate) is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity, similarity, love, intimacy,  spirituality, or compatibility. A related concept is that of the twin flame or twin soul, which is thought to be the ultimate soulmate. In New Age spirituality, the ultimate soulmate is the one and only other half of one’s soul.

You may remember Ashlea & Peter from their Winter wonderland engagement session this past winter click her to see them

From the moment I met Ashlea & Peter we just had this connection I got them and their vision and they got me. I felt then and fell ever more now that we were meant to meet. I was meant to be their wedding photographer. I am so honored to have shared in Ashlea and Peter beautiful wedding day. It is because of couples like Ashlea and Peter  that I am so passionate about photography and love what I do.

The day started off pretty grim as it was raining pretty hard as I left Ottawa for Perth to meet Ashlea & Peter at the Codes Mill Inn. It rained the whole way to Perth, then just as I pulled in to the parking lot of the Codes Mill …….it stopped raining and never rained again the whole day. I don’t know if it was due to my prayers, good luck or the special request I asked of my Mom (whom I lost to breast cancer last May) My Mom was my biggest fan, and loved weddings as much as I do.  So I said Mom, please let it stop raining for Ashlea and Peter’s wedding today. It’s outdoors.

Well like I said it didn’t rain another drop once I arrived in Perth.

From then on the day unrolled like a dream, it couldn’t have gone better if I’d planned it myself…..everything was just perfect . So perfect that as Ashlea & Peter sealed their vows with a kiss a lone ray of sunshine broke through the clouds and shined down on then at that very moment. As well as one single blue butter fly that flew over then at the same moment……..unfortunately I missed to capture the butterfly.  I like to think it was my Mom’s doing.

Well enough of me talking about it I’ll let you see it for yourselves. Here are just a few of my many favorite picture from Ashlea & Peters wedding day…….as you will see, it was all about love, family, friend and being together like one big family!!!!

Ottawa Engagement Photography | michelle & bob

Have you ever thought about what a pivotal moment in your life was?

This isn’t mine but one of my wonderful brides to be pivotal moment in her life, I love this story.  Michelle had just graduated and wanted to start working right away, so she went through an work agency and one day they called her and offered her a one day assignment for the following day at an electrical subcontracting company. She wasn’t really interested in temporary work but figured she had nothing to loose so I accepted. That one day assignment eventually turned permanent and where she met Bob (her husband to be), who is now the absolute love of her life. Bob and Michelle had no mutual friends and likely would never have met if she hadn’t accepted that one day assignment. It’s incredible how what we think may be an insignificant decision ends up being a pivotal moment in someone’s life.

Edwine & Jamesley| Ottawa engagement

How they met,

It was in New Jersey, NY in May 2009. Edwine’s best friend was marrying Jamesley’s cousin. Jamesley was the best man and Edwine was the maid of honour. There was an instant emotional connection between them as others were saying that “They were next!” Edwine found Jamesley really, really intriguing and calm, but he royally ignored her the whole time except when they had to perform their functions. Edwine inquired with her best friend, about his relationship status. She learned he was in a relationship (that is why he was being a bit distant). After the wedding, she added him on face book and kept on checking on his status. Finally, in August, Jamesley went to his cousins and Edwine’s best friends house and they were watching the wedding video and everybody was teasing him about him and Edwine’s dancing together at the wedding and he asked about here.  He was single at this point. Edwine’s best friend now Jamesley’s cousin’s wife suggested that he contacted her.

So he did, except he had the wrong number (Edwine had given him the phone number of another bridesmaids at the wedding since she didn’t want to use her Canadian number). Fast forward two weeks, Jamesley finally figured out that he was texting the wrong person and he got Edwine’s real number and they started talking on the telephone once a week. Jamesley lives in Boston; Edwine I do believe at the time still lived in Ottawa, ON however now she lives in the Cayman Island. That October they decided to meet for a formal date in Montreal and to go to Quebec City for a couple of days. It was great, they totally fell for each other … and that was the beginning of their long distance love adventure.

Fast forward to Sept 2010, on a visit to Boston to see Jamesley’s. Edwine and Jamesley went out for a nice romantic dinner and when they got home Jamesley said he had a surprise for her. It was a slideshow of some of their photos synchronized to “If it is love” from Train. Edwine thought it was really cute….. and there was a big I love you at the end. Except that he was on his knees asking if she would marry him. Edwine was a bit shocked and speechless and finally said Yes…

Edwine & Jamesley are getting married in Ottawa this summer at the museum of aviation. After spending the day with Edwine and Jamesley, Edwine flew in from the Cayman Island and Jamesley came in from Boston for Easter weekend and their engagement session. That was the first time we met,  it’s as if we had known each other our whole lives, I was greeted with big huges from both of them. I cannot wait for their wedding this summer, these two are a joy to be around they are so smitten with each other it’s contagious. Once I finished their engagement session, I rushed home to tell my sweetie how much I loved him and send him a big cyber kiss!!!

Thank you Edwine and Jamesley for sharing your love story with me and choosing me to document the wedding chapter of you love story!!!

Stay tuned for pictures from Edwine & Jamesley’s wedding this August.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy!!!!

Cheers, Natalie
